Heart Pounding

After 9 months of pacemaker I woke up last night and had a feeling of my heart pounding. Is this something to follow with my doctor or is it normal?

Certainly not an expert and I would say if you have a concern always contact your doctor. My Medtronic pacemaker which I have had since April records all my heart activity thru my iPhone. The doctors and Medtronic have an algorithm that picks up unusual activity and if they see something that concerns them they will call and ask me to come into the clinic. I know that works because they have asked me to come in twice since having my pacemaker implanted. Once because they punctured my lung during the implant procedure and recently because I have gone into AFib more often and they want to discuss doing an ablation.

You could discuss with them their protocol when recording and seeing unusual activity.

Do you remember waking from a dream?

Dreams can give you a rapid heart rate and pounding pulse.

Was your pulse regular?  How fast? When you say 'pounding' do you mean that the beats were slow but unusually powerful?

Heart contractions vary in intensity as well as rate, and they aren't necessarily caused by the same things.
