I'm 76 with a healthy heart but SSS. I was told by my husband 50 years ago, a cardiovascular surgeon, that I had bradycardia. I have been mostly asymptomatic and active up until the implant a month ago. Everything went fine but I had tachycardia 170 bpm on the 4th day and returned to hospital to be put on a drip overnight. I returned home with a low dosage beta blocker. I had never experienced tachycardia for more than a few minutes prior to pm. My incision healed quickly with no pain. I occasionally felt some significant zaps which have mostly ceased now. I won't see the electrophysiologist until the end of May. This is socialized medicine in Costa Rica. I took my dogs on an hours hike in very mountainous terrain yesterday and today without any issues. I had no issues prior to the pm and walked daily. I'm looking forward to swimming and yoga after 6 weeks. I am very grateful for this site and have learned a lot. It was gratifying to know that other people experienced similar problems. I was able to dampen down my worries as I'm overly sensitive to every odd symptom. I had a few difficult days adjusting to the beta blocker but never any pain, shortness of breath, or dizziness. I just wanted to share my experience and say I'm feeling well at 4 weeks post pm and looking to the future. Thanks again to everyone's emails that reassured me during the process. I'm sure I'm not finished with questions but I know where to look for answers.
