new to club!

Hi all
I am a new pacer pt. Just received pacer almost 3 months ago at 26 for SSS. I was wondering if anyone ever experienced increased pain in pocket and sharp electric like pain in lead area. I have a dual chamber that was placed under the muscle. I have had increased pain and low grade fevers( up to 101) over past two months. All blood cultures negative. Is this normal and has anyone had this? I am trying to convince myself it's normal but any experiences would be appreciated! Thanks

Thanks! How did you get rid of the shocks, is it just a setting change on pacer? You're right getting doctor to believe it feels "electrical" has been hard. He just sort of gives me this look like it's not possible.

Pacemaker Pain

Hi Jen,

Pain in connection with a pacemaker after the initial surgery discomfort is gone is never normal. All of your pain should have been gone at least six weeks ago as a pacemaker should be entirely painless in its day to day operation. It sounds like you may have the making of a two headed problem, infection and shocks from your pacemaker. See your doctor and the sooner the better.

I've had the problem with shocks from my PM and I know that getting the doctor to believe this happen can be a huge problem You may have to make a nuisance of your self to get the help you are entitled to so don't give up.

Hi I am new as well No pacer yet but on the path, I am wondering if you can tell me if you were having symptoms prior to getting the pm?

Also since you areyoung likeme, I am 28 do you have a family history??

Jen,

My shocks were being caused by a crack in the V. lead insulation. It took about 3 months of constant complaining for the doc. to admit there may be a problem. He got in a Medtronic rep. to do an indepth analysis of my pacemaekr and leads and that was the way it was found. That lead had to be replaced and since it had been in place for only about six months it was about the same as getting the pacemaker to start with.
