I couldn't find any references to this book on the site (I tried searching by author and by title). It's not about strokes, it's about the heart and the cardiovascular system; lead author is a cardiologist. It's short, very simple, easy reading and probably doesn't contain anything that people on this site don't know. I'd still recommend it because of the focus on the systemic plumbing rather than particular systems. I suspect it's mostly aimed at people who aren't yet aware, or don't have, a problem in the hope that they inform themselves and take action to prevent one.

I bought it without expecting that I'd read it

Then I had a look at a chapter and just read to the end of the book. Didn't tell me anything I didn't know, but may just have altered my perspective. (I'm now wondering exactly how long it has been since I had my carotid checked.)
Regarding kindle, I found that some sections and the diagrams didn't show up clearly on my paper white. But fine on the Kindle app on phone and PC. That's only minor content, so didn't impact my reading.

I have an ICD which is both a pacer/defib. I have no problems with mine and it has saved my life.
Thank you AKADM.

With Atrial Fibrillation (AF) that is often asymptomatic (silent) I am well aware of the dangers of it causing a stroke if the condition is not treated in those of us with AF stroke risk factors. I never planned on going on life long anticoagulation, but here I am taking one daily without fail. The fear of having a stroke is certainly greater than my fear of having a bleed.
I had a quick peep into the book on Amazon and you are right it seems a nice pleasant read from an author who clearly doesn't believe that there is no meaningful life after the age of 75, so why should anyone go to the doctor after that point? I see the book is available on Kindle and is not expensive (UK price £1.99).
