Hello there I am a new member would like to know if there are any men who dont like the location of there ICD> Mine is above my left chest and sticks out some. I am a tall 6'7'' guy and really like to work out,. The doctor said I could not work out or play golf or catch for two months. Already dont really care for the way it looks when I wear a T shirt. Question is when I work out will the ICD stick out more. I am not being vain. This is all new to me and would really like to have this question answered. Or can I have it moved to a new location. Please dont take this as being a vain thing.
thank you
J

Hello there thank you for responding. You definilty answered my questions. And I will give it a try. Was just worried that it would affect the leeds from coming out. Also love to play full court pic up games and I am afraid to dunk it now. Again thank you.

went from under skin to under muscle

Hi,
I had a pacemaker implanted 10 years ago. It was placed under my skin above my left pectoral muscle muscle. I did not know that it was an option to have it placed under/inside my pectoral muscle. It was emergency surgery and no one gave me that option.
I had it replaced when the battery ran out and had them put it inside my pectoral muscle. I work out with weights often and find that it is much less noticable now. I used to be terribly self concious when it was under my skin, but now things are much better. The new pacemaker was smaller than the first one which also helped
About a year ago I had to have the second pacemaker replaced with an ICD/pacemaker, which is, unfortunately, back to a much bigger device. The fact that it is in a pocket in my muscle though has made it less noticable. Working out does not seem to make it more noticable.

Work out

Hello tallguyjoe,
I'm also into weight lifting, I have a pacemaker so my device may be a bit smaller than yours, none the less i understand your concerns. I'm about 5'9" 195-200lbs with a pretty musclular build. I am also 36 years old, so around your age. Have had my pacer for almost eight months now due to complete av block and after the first six weeks of recovery I pretty much picked up where i had left off....weight lifting, cycling. and believe me i really put it to the test in the gym..done over 300 on bench with it..200 military press ect.. and yes the more mass and lean i become the more i can see the unit bulge out, especially the leads, however mine is a little higher and farther out on the left pec, my dr. thinking this will help me mantain my full range of motion. for the most part I have found that others really don't take notice of it. Hope this has helped a little, feel free to ask away and I will try my best to give you any answers from my experiences. Chris.
