Leadless?

Good morning all,

Are dual chamber leadless pacemakers now routinely implanted? Or are they still being trialed?

Thanks.

Leadless technology

Fredaosss, Dual chamber leadless pacemakers are being trialed as well as routinely implanted.  This will no doubt continue for several years to come.  We have got years of experience behind us with single, dual and three lead technology but not with leadless pacing and it will take years to fully test this exciting new system.

Are you thinking of asking your doctors for a leadless pacemaker in the future?  If you are interested, it might be worth speaking to your doctors about entering one of the trials, providing you are a suitable candidate for a dual chamber leadless pacemaker?

I read here recently that Abbott has a new dual chamber leadless pacing system that received FDA approval in July.   It is one device I believe that will pace both chambers and is designed to be removed when they place a new device.   Someone in the UK got one recently without first removing existing leads, so this is very very new and a great step forward.

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
