Still dizzy?

Hello out there,
I just had my PM installed last week. I had slow rate of 40-43 when sitting still for a few minutes. No problem with jogging or excercise as my heart responds normally to excercise. They set my resting rate at 60 and I am still feeling dizzy much like prior the PM. However, I have much more energy and do not feel fatigued as before. Has anyone experienced continued dizzy after PM. Does it go away? Am I just getting used to the new amount of blood and oxygen? Any helpful advece is appreciated.

Dizziness

Hi there, Rob!

A couple of the reasons that I, too, had my pm implanted was for the bradycardia (slow heartbeat) and syncope (blacking out). Have you ever blacked out or just had the dizziness? Anyways...my pm has basically 'cured' my problems with the bradycardia and syncope, but my EP told me that even with the pm I can still have my previous symptoms that required the pm. So, perhaps the dizziness will get better and perhaps not. Do you take any medications for your problem, too? Also remember that over the next few months your pm will be adjusted to you and your situation which may help quite a bit. Most of us come out of surgery having the factory settings for the pm. Usually this is to make sure that the pm is working properly, and the settings will be adjusted at your next few doctor visits. What type of pm do you have? And remember...you can always call your doctor--do not feel afraid or embarassed or like a pain to call your doctor and tell him how you are feeling and ask questions. You two are supposed to work together to get you better!

I'm glad to hear, though, that you are having more energy and feeling less tired. That will make a big difference in getting your life back!

Keep in touch and let us know how you are faring,

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
