Confused about type of sensor

Hello club,
I am scheduled to recieve a PM next month. I enjoy running and cycling alot. I only have slow resting heart rate. So far, my rate climbs normally when excercising. What is the best sensor for runners and cyclists? Accelerometer? Or minute ventilator?

Hi !
You may not need the 'Rate Response Function' turned on.
If your heart rate increases with exertion naturally, then the PM. will not influence your heart rate above your normal resting rate.

The factory setting is usually sixty beats per minute.
The PM. will only track your heart rate below this number and replace any 'skipped or missing' beats.
This setting will be adjusted by the technician when the PM. is implanted, Your cardiologist will advise what settings he thinks will suit your condition best.
Be sure to discuss your lifestyle (sports, competitions, etc.) with the doctor before he decides what to implant.

"Best for runners and cyclists" is not the priority.
"Best" for YOU is.

You didn't say what your slow resting heart rate is.

Endurance athletes typically have resting HR rates of less than 45bpm. Virtually everyone in my local running club has a rate less than 50bpm.

If your exercise rates are good, why does your Dr. claim you need a PM?

Both have theres pros and cons. Minute ventilation uses alot of battery. Try a blended sensor ppm which has both. I think the Guidant Ultra is blened

Accelerometers and biking

Accelerometers require shock for sensing. They won't work when biking.

I have Guidant minute ventilation and seem to do quite well biking, swimming, mountain climbing, although needed several adjustments until it's working to my liking.
