I have a Medtronic W3DRO1 Pacemaker which I had in 2021.
For the past few days I have been experiencing sudden sharp shock pain where the pacemaker is.
has anybody had the same? it lasts for a few seconds.
Also I was diagnosed with Trigamenal Neuralgia which has been causing the same sharp pains in my face but this is the opposite side to the pacemaker? Does anyone suffer the same, I'm wondering if this is caused by the pacemaker.
Any advise would be muchly appreciated.
Thank you
Lisa

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
Electric shock like pain

Lisa, I am so very sorry to hear about your sharp, shock like pain and I feel I know exactly what you are experiencing. It is very unpleasant. I had this immediately post pacemaker implant although I see you had your implant in 2021.
I was treated with neuropathic pain med, Pregabalin (Lyrica) for a few months while this settled and it did. I suffer from complex regional pain syndrome which flares up sometimes. I had intermittent burning, stabbing, electric shock like pain around my pacemaker and into my upper back for months.
I see though that you have been diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia and I wonder if the two problems are somehow related? It is hard to know whether your pacemaker procedure has caused any lasting damage or nerve trauma. I think the best advice I can give is to speak to your doctors and get a referral to a neurologist or pain consultant if you need to. Whatever is causing your discomfort needs to be identified so that you can get some relief from your symptoms.
Are you currently on any meds for your Trigeminal Neuralgia and it is helping? If not, perhaps they will change your medication and you might find the shocks will reduce in both areas? I hope you find some relief quickly
