Left or right?

Im getting my pm today or tomorrow. Wondering which side to have it? I play golf right handed. Would like to continue. What other issues are important in choosing a side?

Mostly it is placed on your left side.

Which side

I'm left handed and sleep on my left side.
Got it put on my right side.
Best decision I ever made.

which side?

They'll want to put it on the left side because the route to the right atrium is more direct.

For a rightie, this is where you want it anyway. Your dominant arm takes a lot more stress.

I sleep on my stomach/chest with my pacemaker pressed directly into the mattress. No problem.  It took a little while to get back to this after the implant.

No choice

I wasn't given a choice.  I'm right handed and they put it on the left side. My neighbor had his put on his dominant side anyways because he shoots and that worked for him. Tell them pre-op what you do and see what they say. Good luck and God bless!

Shooter

A shooter having the pacemaker placed on the dominant side would be really wierd. Unless he's a south-paw who shoots right (not unusual, since almost all guns are right-handed) puting it on the dominant side would not be good.  The stock of the gun would be pressed right against the pacemaker.  Pow! OW!

Yes he shoots a gun differently and had the pacemaker put opposite where the doc wanted to put it so that shooting would not involve leaning a rifle on the pacemaker area.

I debated this, ended up left side

I'm somewhat ambidextrous, most "shooting" type things (rifle, pool, archery, play guitar, etc) I do right handed but most things I do left handed. Also, I'm a side sleeper, mostly on my left side so that complicates things.

I ended up going with the left side. Not 100% sure it was the right choice but no going back now!

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
