Soreness,shoulder pain

I found this wonderful site last night and joined immediately. A big thank you to you all for describing all your initial fears and pain - at last I know I am normal.

I have been in pain since June 12 when I had my Medtronic PM inserted. Glue was put on my wound and it would not move until after a month and the pain is less intense. I now have soreness where the PM is, at the side near the shoulder and the shoulder itself. The sorenes is also all across the collar bone and across my chest. I mentioned this to the Cardio Dr. and he says it could be scar tissue.

I have all the female issues of the breast being too heavy and the strapless bra necessity. I too walk with one hand under the left breast.

I now intend to seek physical therapy in the hopes of getting the correct exercises. I know it takes time and I am a very poor healer for the most part. But thank you all for the messages you have posted to each other and when I have been to physical therapy I will write again. In the meantime please keep sending your messages, they are the best cure, not that I want to see you all in pain but that you try and things improve.

You may have developed a bit of inflammation in the shoulder joint. An injury, including surgery, can trigger it. If your doctor allows you, try over the counter anti-inflammatories, like Advil (Ibuprofen) and ice packs. Your physical threapy will help to keep the shoulder joint from freezing.
Best of wishes to you. I hope you feel better soon.

Sore Shoulder

Marie,

A sore sholder is the one difficulty I have had with my PM. I have had mine for a year now and the soreness has continued. Some days it is a slight irritation and other days quite painful. I have found that lifting things makes the pain worse. My EP says the PM is located close to the muscle to keep it out our breast tissue for mammograms. Because it is so close to the muscle, it rubs causing irritation. Gellia is right about the ice packs and over the counter pain relievers. I have a family and job and life goes on so I do what I need to do and when it hurts really bad I take something. I just remind myself it is a small price to pay to have a healthy heart.
