concerns about high level of C-Reactive Proteins, Cardiac

Thought  i should post an update from my lastest blood checkup.  Have been doing them monthly since starting new supplement of Agal Oil.(similair to fish oil).  After the really lower rate last month had reduced the amount I was taking from 4 a day to 2 a day.  Now realize that was not a good idea as this is reading was 5.22 and the previous month 2.03.  Now back up to taking 4 a day and 2 nightly of the Red Yeast Rice supplement.

The diagostic doctor said it means that there is inflamation somewhere near my heart.  Although the Homocyst(e)ine and the Fibringen Activity are both now   in range.

Will see how the heart feels about all this as the remote quartely is due on June 20,2023.  Guess nothing this past quarter had jumped out as have not heard from the Cardiologist.

I am fascinated by your messages......

Why are you so certain that it is either helpful or necessary to take supplements ? I have never taken one in my life and I feel absolutely fine. Am I missing something  ?

I WILL not take prescribed medications.  As i do not tolerate the fillers in them.

My way is not for everyone.   MOst certainly do not stop taking your presrcibed medications unless you speak with your doctor first.  Or add supplements before speaking with your doctor.  As some might effect them.

I find it really surprising that you can tolerate the fillers used in supplements  but not the fillers in prescribed medicines .  I believe they are usually identical.

You're right , your way is not for everyone . I think I will carry on with my supplement-free lifestyle.

I wish you well

Ian-Mc, Like everything else there are better supplements than others.  My accupuncturist believes in the best.  So have gone her way, except for this latest one of Agal Oil which i found on my own.  She uses Fish Oil for her clients that  have a  need for  this.  Which i will not take because am veggie and a side effect is high Afib.  Which i do not want,  as i already have the occasionly  Afib episodes.

Ian and New to Pace

Ian, supplements have their place.  In fact many supplements are prescribed on the NHS aren't they like Folic acid, B12, Iron supplements, Calcium and Vitamin D.  A whole range of vitamins and minerals were prescribed for me during cancer treatment in the early nineties because I was found to be deficient.  Supplements included Vitamin C, D, B Complex, Selenium, Magnesium, Zinc.  Not sure whether supplements helped to cure my cancer or whether it was successful surgery, probably a combination of the two.  I still take low dose Vitamin C powder (non acidic form as Magnesium Ascorbate) + Calcium/Magnesium Orotate due to deficiencies, oh and Vitamin D during winter months!

New to Pace, have your doctors actually identified the cause for your raised CRP and confirmed whether it is caused by inflammation or an infection?  My main concern would be taking supplements that might bring down CRP, masking the cause without fixing it although I know you have had a range of cardiac tests, including a PET Scan that have all been satisfactory. Could high CRP possibly also be diet related, I wonder?

Good luck with the increased dosage of Agal Oil and I hope that your results will be favourable.

yes Gemita  you are right, in the beginning she said the high C-reactive Protein, Cardiac was because my body does not process foods right.  I suspect the reason this past time got so high was i cheated on small bags of Potato chips.  2 serving were ok by the time i ate the 3rd serving, the hard nap came.  Learned my lesson.  Of course the kid said you might as well finish all of  the bags.  So i did.
