His Bundle pacing

Hi,

Does anyone have any data showing which hospitals in the UK are most successful at HIS bundle lead placement?

Thanks

John

His Bundle Pacing

Hi John, I don't have data though I have tried to find it myself when doing my research prior to having my His bundle pacing. I had my op at Great Western Hospital in Swindon. They are routinely carrying out this type of pacing which gave me more confidence as I think success levels directly correlate to surgical skill. These skills tend to be refined with practice so I felt happier going to a hospital with a relatively large number of His bundle patients. Sorry I can't give you more specific data. I would guess that some of the London based hospitals with larger cardiac centres might also have more experience in His bundle pacing. Hope you are able to find the info you need.

HIS Bundle Pacing

John, I think you asked a similar question before and I provided some links and names of EPs.   Would it be more helpful to look for a competent EP and their success rates rather than look for the success rate of a hospital for HIS bundle procedures?

I would look for consultants at the Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals or the Royal Papworth Hospital where they will carry out more HIS procedures.   Dr. Vias Markides and Professor Sabine Ernst come to mind.

Have you tried Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital?  That would be nearer for you?

Any main London Hospital, for example my hospital:  Guy’s & St. Thomas successfully perform HIS Bundle pacing procedures although I do not have their success rates, so does Bart’s Heart Centre and also my husband’s heart hospital, King’s College Hospital.

Would you care to tell us what you are thinking?  Are you not happy with your current pacing set up, or are you thinking ahead for your new device?

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
