New Generator!

Good morning!

Upgraded the Iron man gear yesterday! First generator lasted for bout 12 years! Doc said this new one should last me maybe 20yrs if my condition stays the same! I remember during my first two surgeries I felt like I was half sedated...in this one they knocked me the hell out haha!

Anyways, just wanted to share the good news! I did have a St. Jude but apparently they are Abbott now. Leads looked good so they didn't need revision. Just gotta revocer for a few days and I'll be back at it!

Keep smiling my fellow cyborgs!

I hope I get that long on my next one. I'm up for a replacement next month. This one last just under 5 years.

Sedation

Never been offered any unless they spiked the tea.

The first time round I was offered a choice of music.

The second time round, nothing. Covered head to toe with a sheet and left to watch the eyeball fireworks display.

Went home on the bus.

Yay what a strong encouraging message 💜

Btw I love the Ironman movies. 😆

Amazing to think a pacemaker would last 20 years!  I was totally knocked out for my insertion and expect/will demand the same when my replacement is due in about four or five years!

Great!!!

starting as a teen the desire is long life devices, but in 35 years I am on number five and probablyl half way through five, so you can do that math.  number four was a sj jude that was supposed to be 13 years....but.....needed to switch to a biventrical so number four lasted about three years or so. one and two were 7 years each.

Maybe someday I will get a 10 year device, one can only dream...

So awesome to hear, hopefully your two devices will cover the time period of four of mine.  Now that will bring in the question of leads though, I have one working 35 year old and one working 28 year old and no reason to change them out yet.  end of number two for you will be double life expetancy on the leads.

keep on truckin...this is excellent news.

You know you're wired when...

You have a maintenance schedule just like your car.
