Hey y'all,
I've had a pacemaker since I was 12, and a few years after that, I came out as trans since then, I've been wondering if it is possible for me to get top surgery since I have a pacemaker and I've been unable to find anything the covers this and I'm just wondering if anyone has any similar experience or anything that is comparable. Thanks for any help you can offer.

i suppose it is no any different then someone needing to do this for breast cancer. You should ask your surgeron about this and explain you have a pacemaker.

Hi and welcome! This sounds like a question for your cardiologist or EP to answer. You can't be the first to ask about it!

Hi Warren,
I agree with Lavender above, you can't be the first person to have this question, and a surgeon would know the answer.
All the best!
yes of course

Your ep will probably have to be involved in the process and someone will need to monitor the pacer during surgery, but I'm sure a good plastic surgeon has dealt with larger obstacles than a little hunk of titaniumin in the way. Good luck to you.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.

Hi Warren and Welcome from me,
I wondered where your pacemaker is positioned as this may affect the answers you receive?
I personally have no experience of 'top surgery' e.g. the removal of breast tissue, but you may find some people on here who have had similar surgery.
On the pacing side there are several people here who received pacemakers at a young age and some who have pacemakers placed under breast tissue. This may help you too.
I hope that we can all support you through this should you need to talk through any of the treatments you are considering which may affect your pacemaker and heart rhythm and which may impact on you psychologically.
Welcome to the forum, it's a pleasure to have you here.
Best Wishes
