What can I expect for my first post implant appointment?

My experience

I recently had my first appointment. They spent some time checking out how things were healing after surgery. I was then quizzed on how I was going and feeling, the cardiac nurse then downloaded the data from my implant and changed a few settings as they felt it was pacing more than needed in my case. They also ran some diagnostics on the implant to make sure it is all working as it should.

Next stop was the cardiologist who adjusted my medication and signed off a certificate for me to have time off work as they wanted to surgery wound to heal a bit more.

That was it, I go back in June for the next check

Essentially it was just a wound check. The nurse pulled off the remaining steri-strips. and asked a few questions about how I was getting along, pain, and all that but really nothing.    They do a routine EKG whenever I'm there and this was not an exception.  This was only a week after the implant though.

They didn't do an interrogation, IIRC, for another month. It would have been moved up if I had any problems.

Me too

What Agentx86 said was exactly like my first brief visit.

A month after, I had my first pacemaker interrogation. I have it every three months-here at home via an overnight done by my home communicator while I sleep and then the alternate three months in person at the cardiologist pacemaker clinic.

You know you're wired when...

You have a $50,000 chest.
