I have a Kardia 6 lead monitor. I want to purchase a subscription to QALY which is a service that provides unlimited clinician interpretations of ECG's taken at home. I found this out on the forum here (thank you @Daedalus).
I noticed that QALY say only lead 1 of the ECG will be reviewed. I wondered if this is good enough?
Kardiacare offer a similar priced subscription. This allows the Kardia device to use more algorithms to give a bit more information automatically on the print out (PDF). However, it only includes a full clinician review every 90 days (more with an extra fee per ECG review), which isn't attractive compared to QALY.

QTc
by Daedalus - 2023-02-27 22:33:30
I'm not that good at reading ECGs, so I like getting the QALY feedback from the techs as it gives me the readouts on the QRS, QTc, and PR. Of greatest interest to me is the QTc reading as I take Sotalol and need to keep aware of the length of the QTc. Over 500 and it could be trouble. So about once a week I use the QALY just to be sure it's ok. And of course when in AFib, I send in a reading for their feedback.
I don't use the Kardia as a crutch, just as an additional tool.
Kardia mobile

The single lead (1) lead or the 6 L Kardia mobile is very useful if you have some training in reading ECGs. It's not just PACs, PVCs or A Fib but also ST, AT, heart blocks, sinus pauses, bundle branch blocks, QT/QTc etc can be viewed. However, it's utility is limited if one is pacemaker-dependent. Even then, with any unusual symptoms, one can check the rhythm and try to interpret what could be happening or share the tracing with your provider for advice!
To catch an unknown arrhythmia

Thanks for the replies. It's to try and catch a short unknown arrhythmia that I occasionally get, and also an arrhythmia that my partner get more regularly and lasts longer. So preferably need a human to interpret the ECGs. If/when we catch them (at least the first time) I'd probably ask the cardiologist to review the ECG. Longer term having access to QALY sounds good, but still unsure how effective or how limited reading just lead 1 is?
Single lead vs. 12 lead

Claire..... Google > "single lead accuracy"
Lots of studies done on this. Might help you out.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
ECG readings

What information are you looking for? What are you going to do with the information? If you're just looking for Afib/NSR, it's overkill. If you want more information, you'll probably want the all six leads read.
The big question is whether you need it. What are you going to do with the information? I've been thinking about buying another Kardia Mobile (I gave mine to my son) because of the PVCs I've been having but I've sorta decided that I didn't need one. My cardiologist knows I'm having PVCs. What more information can we get from a KM?
