Just Speculating

Not a doctor here, but for sure, if you're feeling lousy, especially if you have a fever, your heart rate could very well ( and probably would) increase in response to what's happening to you. Medications such as over the counter antihistamines, decongestants , cough suppresents may also raise your heart rate.

Hard to say what could be causing your chest discomfort. It could also be due to your illness, chest congestion due to bronchitis, flu, or a myriad of respiratory illnesses. Repeated bouts of coughing may do that too.

I'm glad you're seeing your doctor tomorrow. Good idea especially if you are feeling worse or have unexplained symptoms.

Feel better! Mary

Meds?

What meds?  If you're taking over-the-counter drugs be sure they're heart safe.  Anything with a decongestant, like pseudoephedrine, in it is a no-no. They'll often raise blood pressure, heart rate, and drive one's nervous system like a hundred cups of coffee.

Pseudoephedrine...

Agree with AX86.... that was my go-to decongestant for years.  And on long drives, an espresso coffee and two of those, and I could drive for miles and miles and miles..... lol.

l haven't touched one in over a year.... they're not Afib friendly.  And only decaf.

So now I can sleep for miles and miles and miles....

when in doubt, to go the hospital

As the others said, some meds can raise the heart rate as can being sick. But if your rate is staying elevated, you need to be seen asap.

The pacer is a gas pedal, not a brake. The heart can go as fast as it wants on its own, the pacer will just watch.

What’s the doc say?
