I got my PM in June of 2007. My left arm when I reach back or lean to side to reach something I get a very sharp pain that feels deep and goes down to right above my elbow. My PM site does not hurt but I have never had this pain in my life before. Usually the pain I have in my left arm is angina type. Not even close to that. I can lift things in front of me and I have no pain at all. If happens so often now and the pain is more intense I wonder what the heck it is. I need some help? It has been really getting intense the last 4 weeks. Is this normal?

Pain

Hi Amy,
Any pain related to a pacemaker is not normal. In your case it could be anything from a problem with whatever to scar tiussue around a lead or the PM. I say you need to see your doctor.
Good luck,
Smitty

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.

I also have had left arm pain. I had my implant 5-24-07. This left arm pain started a few months after the implant. I have had physical therapy but the pain, sometimes spasms persist. Not all the time but when I reach my left arm out the the side and turn my arm the really hurts. Am going for a PM checkup on Monday and will persent this to the cardiologist.
