Phone used for transmission

Having my medtronic pacemaker generater replaced and will be moving to the carelink heart App. Have any of you had issues with the type of cell phone you have being compatible with the App?

Thank you in advance...

Beth

The cell phone has to be on their approved list and the app can't be installed before contacting Medtronic but everything went smoothly for me.

I have this phone, it's very recent (came out last year), and it's an android, but I was not able to install the app to my phone unfortunately.

iPhone 7+

Beth, I have an old iPhone 7+.  My pacemaker isn’t able to directly connect to the Medtronic App via Bluetooth. This is due to the model/age of my pacemaker.  My iPhone is however compatible with the App but I still need to use the MyCareLink Smart patient reader as well and this is what connects my 2018 pacemaker to the App.  I have successfully sent transmissions to my clinic.  Many use the App and find it easy and reliable.  When I get a new pacemaker, I will no longer need to use the patient reader.

I suggest you get your pacemaker clinic to help you to set it up before you leave hospital following your device change and to make sure that you have that all important “account” set up too, without which nothing will work!

Hope it all goes well for you

I haven't looked at the compatability list but the spacific model has to be on the list. Just being an Android isn't good enough. Also, you can't install it youselj. Well, you can but it won't work. You need to have Medtronic enable it during th edownload.  I had to install it with Medtronic on the phone. The instructions I got said as much.

No luck with Biotronik

Haven't been able to get the Biotronik app to work.  Biotronik people said it's a problem with my phone and they can't help me.  I've been very disappointed with the lack of transparent information available from Biotronik or my EP office.
