Rapid walking

Question, I have had my PM for over 7 years. My doctor recently turned on my rapid response setting as my heart was not speeding up with movement. Now when I walk fast  to exercise I get a dull ache when my heart rate gets to about 120. If I sit and rest heart slows down properly and ache stops. Then I walk fast again and it aches again. Doesn't ache at any other time. Is this because I'm so out of shape? And just need better conditioning? Dr says I'm 100% paced on the top now. 2% on the bottom. TYIA

I'd give your doctor a call before continuing. It could be being out of shape, it could be the settings need tweaked, it could be something else going on. My doctor has put me on the treadmill while on the pacing computer more than once, it's a great tool to fine tune settings and figure out exactly what's going on.

I just wanted to mention a remote possibility. I have COPD as well as my heart issues, and visit sites for suppoet with that as well. One thing that has come up more than once is muscle pain associated with abnormal breathing. It can feel like an ache in the chest, diaphragm, even in the back. If you feel breathless when walking fast, you may try too hard to breathe & make certain muscles hurt.

Pain/discomfort in chest on exercise.

Whilst there may be many causes for this from your lungs, chest wall, or oesophagus, until proven otherwise you have ANGINA.

You should seek a medical opinion as soon as is practicable and refrain from getting the discomfort/pain until you have a medical opinion.

Pain Discomfort In Chest while walking

I have discovered that as soon as the weather turns colder (when walking outside) I can get some discomfort. Also can happen inside on a Treadmill - early inn the am at the Y before the facitity has completely warmed up - it's cold in the am or on a real cold winter day.

Also if I take more time to get "warmed up" increasing my heart Rate slowly  until I hit the higher 115 to 120 mark then I do not get the discomfort.
