If you need thyroid hormone replacement therapy then you need it otherwise your heart (and the rest of your body) will suffer.

I imagine that your concern is becoming thyrotoxic with too much replacement.  But that's a risk that is a) well understood, b) present whether you have a PM or not.

Linda,

Levothyroxine is a med to help correct thyroid hormone deficiency and if this has been prescribed for you by your doctors who are aware of your medical history, then it will be needed and safe for you to take with your pacemaker.  An untreated thyroid condition can be dangerous for all of us and lead to many health conditions and can adversely affect the heart, blood pressure, and heart rhythm.

Levothyroxine will not adversely affect your pacemaker although you may find that any heart block or bradycardia may improve when the thyroid hormone is taken.  Your doctors may therefore see changes in your pacing requirements.  Your Bio history has not been completed so I do not know the reasons for your pacemaker although from your messages over 9 years I see that you have been having lots of symptoms which could have pointed to thyroid problems from the start?

Have a look at the following two links for further information on hypothyroidism Linda:
