Hybrid Cars

We are considering purchasing a new mild hybrid car. Meaning it switches between petrol and electric. Never occurred to me to ask salesman about the electric part interacting with pacemaker devices tbh. Not that he would probably know tbh. So thought it more beneficial to ask here. So is it safer to just stick to petrol only please?

Enjoy your new car.

People with pacemakers can drive hybrids and ride in them with no ill effects whatsoever.

In fact, you can let go of all fear. There is no modern technology intended for use by the general public that is not safe for pacemakers.

Also just want to add - good for you for choosing a hybrid, LIzzie.  We have to get away from using gasoline - and eventually diesel, which is going to take longer due to the nature of heavy duty vehicles - to provide our mobility.  Hybrid vehicles are more complex to build and maintain than straight-up electric vehicles but they are what we have now as we make the transition forward towards cleaner air.  It's great that you are interested in helping clean the air that we all breathe.

 I owned a hybrid prior to having my pacemaker  implanted and drove it 4-6 days a week post-implantation for close to a year. I had no issues of any kind. I hope you enjoy your hybrid as much as I enjoyed mine. Happy driving!
