stress test after pain

Noticed yesterday after taking off the wrap where the needle was inserted was sore.  This morning noticed still sore and swollen.  On right arm near the elbow.  Today 7/28,2021 noticed the bruise is now just a u shaped  mark around the outer rim of the bruise.

Of course with all that caffeine yesterday hard time  falling asleep.  Not used to drinking caffinated products.

Pain and swelling at the injection site following Stress Test

by Gemita - 2021-07-23 10:22:45

new to pace, i would say some post injection pain, swelling is normal after this procedure.  I believe ice packs can help with any swelling/inflammation.  If discomfort/swelling doesn't improve after another 24 hours or you experience other symptoms, like a local or whole body skin rash or swelling elsewhere, or other symptoms of an allergic reaction to the injection, or infection at the injection site, I would have a word with your doctors.  Drink plenty of clear fluids in the meantime to flush out any chemicals from your body.

injection site pain

I would be inclined to use warm compresses to increase circulation bringing white blood cells to the area to attack any pathogen that may have been introduced under the skin.

But yes, contact your provider if it does not resolve in a day or two, you develop a fever >100.4, or a red streak is visible above the injection site.

Swelling after IV

by Elisabet - 2021-07-25 07:06:04

Hope you are doing okay now!

My spouse donates platelets a few dozen times per year, so between us we've got way too much experiece with IVs. The best way we've found to guarantee bruising, soreness, and minor swelling is to lift something heavy too soon afterward. It takes time for the injection site to heal, and it can be a bit leaky.

"Something heavy" isn't always something you think about before lifting - groceries and kids count, too!

Of course if the swelling is bad, or it is red or hot you definitely need to call the doc. Some bruising and/or soreness is normal, and pretty much par for the course if they had to dig around for a vein or if the stick just hits the vein wrong. Nine times out of ten, though, even that doesn't happen.

Thanks  Elisbet  thanks the bruising has almost disappeared just around the outer edges.  When the nurse called with the results of the stress test.  Asked what should i do.  Suggested heat, told her been in the warm water of the pool and swirled the arm around.  Said that was good.  Kept doing that.
