stress echo test

Hello new to pace, your question "Was wondering why the Dr. requested a stress test?" can only really be answered by your doctor, although it sounds as though she feels you are due a stress test. As you will see from the many posts here, a stress test serves many useful purposes.

A stress echo test will show how well your heart is coping when under stress from exercise.  It would also show any problems you might have with your heart, for example whether you have any blocked arteries.  A stress test diagnosed my husband’s  coronary artery disease which led to a cardiac catheterisation, known also as an angiogram and the placement of three stents, two in his LAD artery which probably saved his life.

Your doctor will be able to assess a lot from the stress test.  She will be able to see the structure of your heart, whether your heart muscle is getting enough blood and oxygen while you are exercising.  They will determine just how safe it is for you to exercise and to see for instance any difficulties you might have with your arrhythmias.  A stress echocardiogram is really putting you and your heart to the test, will show how well any medication is working, or whether you need medication, whether your arrhythmias are under control.  They will watch you for any signs of discomfort during exercise, any symptoms like breathlessness, chest pain, fatigue, arrhythmias.  Your doctor will check your blood pressure. heart rate, heart rhythm throughout the test.  Have you been told you will have an exercise stress echo or medication induced stress echo?

It seems to me as though you are being well looked after and I see too that you are keeping your own records of when you get your fast heart beats.  That will be very helpful new to pace

embrace the offer of a stress test

I say "embrace the stress test" because I had to request one to address my issues, based on what I'd learned here on this site. I hope all goes well for you in your exam.  In my case, I was asked to make significant changes to medication immediately and said I wasn't ready, so wore a holter monitor to ensure that the negative stuff that was shown in the stress test was corrected by PM setting changes.  Again, just my experience, but I would say try to see the stress test as a positive aspect to your care.  Let us know how it goes, if you wouldn't mind

Stress tests are a great way to see how our heart does on exertion and fine tune settings.

If you can't do a treadmill, can you do a bike? Other option is a chemical stress test.

You know you're wired when...

You always run anti-virus software.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
