Hi- I'm 4 months into my Medtronic dual lead pacemaker for bradycardia, slow heartbeat. The process has worked fine after the initial anxiety issues but recently have experienced what I call jolts to my chest (not electronic) as if someone punched me that makes my body jump up a bit. This only happens in the evening while laying down and reading or watching TV,. There is no pain, just a jolt or bump in the mid chest area.
I am on Metoprolol .25 mg.Has anyone experienced this and found out what causes it?? I aslo have had some mild vertigo/dizziness that has been attributed to ear infection or getting up from bed too quickly.
My Dr has no explanation.

Jolts and dizziness

Hi. There is no good reason for the jolts and a good interrogation of the PM unit should help the doc decide on best course of action to eliminate it.
As for the dizziness, check out the side effects of the metaprolol. The last I was prescribed with metaprolol a year ago, I remember that it is a beta blocker and it functions to slow down the heart and also has the effect of lowering the BP as well.
If you are suffering from bradycardia, why take a drug to slow the heart further and lower BP as well? Your doc is the best person to decide what's good for you and must have a good reason to do it. No harm checking it out.
Best of luck!
