iPhone12s IMPORTANT

The other day the FDA put out a notice about iPhone12s potentially interferring with ICDs (and presumably pacemakers).  Today I happen to be researching to find a new phone.  See the article below, which is much more specific than the FDA notice.

iPhone 12

My server won't resolve that page but I went to the Heart Rhythm Society's page and searched on "iPhone 12".  All I found was some letters to the editor about the iPhone 12, which didn't say anything that we didn't already know.  "Don't place any phone, iPhone 12 included, directly on your PM/ICD."

Did you see something else?  Again, I can't get to your link.

It's not the phone itself, it's specifically the wireless charging system in the 12, MagSafe.

FDA's official advice is still keep all phones 6" from any device.

I couldn't find the newest FDA release, but this article from yesterday quotes it. Both independent testing and FDA testing were able to get a pacemaker to switch modes with the Iphone 12.

I'm not usually overly concerned about things like this, most warnings are more cya lawyerese than solid medical advice, but my next phone will not be an Iphone 12, much as I want that camera. I don't want to have something that I have to think about where I put it.
