I got a call from my cardiologist office on yesterday that my device was beeping. I heard a beep but I thought it was coming from something in my house. I did not realize it was me. I got my device in 3/2009 and this is my first battery change. I went in today and they turned the beeping off and I will schedule a precedure to change the battery. I was just wondering is their anyone besides myself that did not realize the beep was them.

Boston Scientific/ Guidant defibs beep when battery is low or there is a problem..
I had my device for 10 years and I started to hear a beeping. For days I tried to figure out where the beeping was coming from...every 6 hours was the pattern. I thought it was the battery in my home phone, then I thought it was my watch. I would ask my family "Did you hear that"? They would look at me and by then the beeping would stop.
Then one day when I was coming out of the gym, I heard the beeping...no one was around me, no electronics besides my HR monitor and watch. Just the birds singing in the trees.
I called my cardiologist and he had me come in for a device check...yep, it was me! The 6 hour beeping signified there was a problem. I had my device changed a few weeks later.
Always listen to your body....and the beeping.

Several weeks after my upgrade I heard a strange high pitch beep coming from my abdominal area (where my device is). I knew about warning alerts on devices and started to panic. After no calls from the monitoring center and 30 mins waiting to see if it happened again/monitoring vitals/and reading manuals online for my device warning codes, I discovered my phone was buried under the blanket next to my stomach and had received several "weather alerts" lmao! So no I have never had mine beep for low battery or any other reason but I imagine if it ever does now I will likely assume it's my phone at first!!!
You know you're wired when...
The meaning of personal computer is taken a step further.

Hello Sugdaro2005,
No beeping this end so far, but my pacemaker is only just coming up to three years old. Looking at the date of your implant, you have done very well to last this long. I believe the average life of a battery is between 7-10 years.
With so many potential gadgets around the home today, you can be forgiven for thinking the beeping was coming from elsewhere. How funny though. We have had a few posts over recent months on device beeps and other strange noises, some of which could not be traced back to a failing battery.
I hope you are not suffering any symptoms from a failing battery and that your first battery change goes smoothly.
