Had my pacemaker two days ago.  Had a good first day home but today I feel so anxious again.  Anyone else newly paced and can compare notes.   Was not feeling ill before procedure but bought myself an Optimeter and discovered my heart was beating so slow.  Within three weeks I had received wonderful treatment from Royal Bournemouth Hospital and a two lead pacemaker fitted.  Was supposed to have three leads, but after three hours they gave up trying to fit the third lead and so now I am so anxious as to why I needed a third lead and will I b e OK without it.   Not coping very well at all yet but hopefully will become more confident as the days pass.

You're not alone

Dear Betty - please know that you're not alone in dealing with your feelings of anxiety.  I'm 3 years out from implant but can easily remember feeling anxious and unsure. I found myself feeling better as the days and weeks went on, and I hope you do, too.  It sounds like you're coping just fine and your confidence will continue to build as you move forward.

a month for me

My "roomy" and I met a month ago.

I was a bit stressed out, but had a good preparation fot the procedure, and my body is coping ok. Dont like the way the scar is turning ou5, but we'll see in a few weeks.

I have a 3 lead CRT-D. As I understood the lead going on left ventricule is always the hardest to install.  I know that being here in the pacemakerclub has been really nice. A lot of good and interesting posts.

I am pretty sure you can get most of the answers to your questions here.

I hope you will feel good soon.

as the time progresses. First few days are always tough. Try not to think too much of it and get back to your regular stuff like spending time with family , friends, doing small chores, reading etc to keep yourself busy. I think of my device just like having eye glasses i.e just an accessory to a body part which is not functioning at 100%.

You know you're wired when...

Like the Energizer Bunny, you keep going.
