Pacemaker lead

Hi

How many of you can feel the leads to your PM bumpy under the skin? Had PM 24 years but could never feel them in the past, they are still very sore after 8 weeks, again this is unusual as I am normally back to normal by about 5 weeks.

Hi Maureen, do you have a dual lead pacemaker or CRT pacemaker? I had a dual lead for 4 months and I didn’t feel any wires. I have had a CRT pacemaker for 8 months now and I can feel the third lead under my skin. (It is not visible)

Sure, not only can I feel them but they're easily visible curving our of the generator around towardthe clavicle. Both leads of my CRT are very clear. I've had some slight "pain", more like an abrasion, but that's it. Nothing for some time.

Hi

Thanks for your comments, it's a dual pacemaker and I have just had a new atrium lead, the old one has been capped and buried. As I said had PM a long time and this is the first time I could feel the leads and it supposed to be under the muscle its never been this painful before either.

Anyway I was just checking on others experience it's early days not overly worried at the moment.

Keep safe and well xxx

Just a thought

I've always been able to feel mine if I pressed on the spot, but as I become older, and the skin gets thinner, I can feel them just by lightly running my finger over the area.

I'm wondering if the fact that you are 24 years older could be changing things for you?

Maureen, after nearly three years, I can clearly feel the outline of my device but not the leads of my dual chamber pacemaker and it was not placed deeply.  You on the other hand have now got a capped redundant lead buried in the pocket and a third lead added, so it is bound to be bulkier in the area, but it shouldn't be painful at 8 weeks.  I hope your discomfort settles quickly.

Visible

Hi Maureen, I hope you're feeling better. My leads aren't visible but I can feel them there.  The section of the device where the leads attach sticks out clearly, though.  Always makes me think of a caterpillar under my skin. So far it hasn't caught on anything or caused a problem.

Did you lose weight? I cannot feel mine.

You know you're wired when...

You have rhythm.
