Icd poking through skin?

Has anyone had the problem of their Icd poking through their skin on their chest? I am not saying that's what is happening now to me but the pain feels that way. I hate looking directly at it, it makes me sick. I put some of my cream on it and it is trying to calm a bit. Please pray the cream keeps working for me. I think i have a icd check next month. I pray my dr will be there. The thing is if i complain to my dr i know he might have to cut into me to fix any problems....more pain. I wish i never got a icd!

Be brave and speak to your doctors

Alli, is your device poking through your skin?  Can you answer yes or no please?  Can you actually see any metal or anything that looks as though it is coming through the skin?

If you are in pain and not comfortable I think you should either get in touch with the doctor who implanted your device, or with your general doctor, or go straight to ER.  You should not be in so much pain.

You need to be brave and get someone to look at your device and talk to you about what can be done to ease your pain.  Don't be afraid.  Hopefully you were able to get your Mom into care and she will be taken care of while you look after yourself.

Good luck Alli

So much drama

by ar_vin - 2021-01-19 20:29:40

I've resisted responding to the many strange posts by this individual but I had to say something!

Why all the drama?

So many on here struggle with real issues and then there is this person that just rants on about getting the PM out.

That ship sailed when the PM was implanted.

Take all the very patient and considerate advice you are offered and move forward. Dwelling in the past is not going to change anything!

Feel free to correct me if I'm out of place in saying what I did.

Poking out

Hi Alli, I am sorry that this has been such an ordeal for you. I have lost a great deal of weight since my implantation and my pacer has become much more visible.. But if you've ever seen a pacer, you will notice that there are no sharp edges to poke through the skin. The interogation tech bumped my pacer last week and it hurt! But the sting faded after a couple of hours.

I got my neighbor to look carefully at my PM site. She is a good friend of mine. She noticed nothing unusual about it . Thanks to my cream,  pain is gone. I guess i can expect things like this. Germita i am not afraid to speak to my dr. How can you speak to someone who isn't there??  Oh, mom is now at the rest home thank God.!  Arvin all i can say is that i am not a robot. I am human, Yikes, lol. I love peace, believe it or not, but drama loves me more-sigh. Julros thanks for your kindness. You are right about what you said about pacers. Well there is one burden lifted. Thanks again. Smiles.

Pain muscles in the arm same side of pacer

by Rodlyn - 2021-01-22 02:17:33

Im on my 4 th pacer, I was 39 y:o at first.  I had a DVT in that arm 10 years ago, resolved.    I've had chronic edema and pain increasing over the years.    Lately quite painful in biceps and forearm muscles as day wears on.   No DVT but ultishows sluggish venous flow.
many ideas?

Don't just hope you can see the doctor. Speak up!

It doesn't sound like the pacemaker is coming through now, so everything is probably okay. But, although rare, skin erosion over the pacemaker can happen, and it is a very bad thing if it does.

I believe in the power of prayer, but in addition to waiting for your next appointment and praying, I'd suggest you call the office now, describe the problem, and specifically tell them you want to be seen by the doctor.
