Old Pacemaker leads

Hi everyone!
I would like to know if anyone has experienced what I am. I have old leads that were left in my abdominal area from when I was 10 years old. I am now 37. The pacemaker was moved from my abdominal to my left side by then shoulder when I was 12 years old.
So I sometimes slouch or maybe I just twist my upper body... I am quite thin now than before and I feel this slight pinch or little pain around where the leads are. The thing if I slightly press down by my old incision I can feel the old lead which is like 2 or 3 inches above my belly button... does anyone have old leads in their abdomen and feel little pinch pains like this?
a weird thing is I can bend forward and I don't feel anything.. but it happens at times if I slouch.

thanks! Any input helps

Old leads

Nina, we had a recent post from another member with an abdominal pacemaker and I attach the link in case you want to try to private message the member to ask your question.

I get "pinch like" electric shock sensations around the navel area possibly due previous abdominal surgery many years ago.  Nerve irritation can do this Nina, or pulling on tissue.  In my case it is still a mystery what is actually causing this, but in your case it might need further investigation to make sure your leads are sound and not starting to cause a problem?  This would be my main concern and question to ask your treating doctor.

It is strange it should happen after all this time so perhaps a few checks would be helpful to rule out a serious cause and to give some peace of mind.

I do wish you well Nina

Thank you

Thank you so much. This really helps. I will look into it. I am thinking maybe my tissues get pulled sometimes if I slouch too much... i will call my dr tomorrow and ask some questions...

Pinchy feeling

Hi Nina,

I have CCHB, but was able to put off the pacemaker until I was 17, so I never received the abdominal pacemaker.  However, I sometimes feel a pinchy feeling in my left armpit, close to the pacemaker.  I notice that it happens when I'm leaning to the left while sitting, or when I do certain exercises with weights.  I just try to avoid doing the things that cause the pinchy feeling.  I hope your doctor can help!

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
