Finally got my PM

Well everyone,

Finally got my PM yesterday. I am in a little pain and have been taking paracetemol (tylenol). My shoulder and wound area are sore. Feels weird when I breath in. I got a chest X ray yesterday and thy said that it was ok, but still have concerns.

I hope that it is just brusing and will sort it self out over the next few days.

Finding it difficult not using my arm, but I know how important that is.Still to attempt washing and drying my hair. That will be fun.

I will be asking you all so many different questions over the next few weeks.

Thank you all for your support.

Fiona

Fiona,

I am so glad you are doing well. I had some strange pains and sensations in my neck and chest after my PM. There is quite a bit of bruising and irritation in the area but I felt better after a week or so.

I know it is hard, but watch that arm. Is there anyone who can help you wash and dry your hair. I found it was okay to wash mine but drying it and putting it up in a ponytail was the job of my husband or my teenage daughter. They were more than willing to help!

You sound great! You were very well prepared going into this and I know that has helped you. Keep us updated and ask any question you can think of.

I, too, am so happy that you are doing well.
With your hair, can you find a dryer that has a stand? They make them that will hold a regular hand dryer. That way you can dry your hair and use the one arm with your comb and brush for styling.
There are many aches and pains that feel different in the begining, like Michelle has stated. The pain from surgery will go away. Give yourself some time to recover.
Keep us updated. We're all thinking of you.
Best to you,
Gellia

hi fiona,

i'm so happy to hear you are doing well! i got used to using my other hand to dry my hair. had to just clip it up...couldn't curl it. once i went to the salon to have them just do my hair..no cut just style.

it takes a couple weeks for the pain to disappear...if it's just under the skin, longer if under the muscle or breast.

get lots of rest!
God bless,
luckyloo

I am happy to here that your Pm surgery went well.
I was able to wash and dry my hair put I just made sure I did not lift my arm above my shoulder.
You just had your surgery so it is normal to have the aches you are talking about. Everyone heals differently and each person has different symtoms. I had alot of soreness in my left shoulder bc it was being around alot.

I have now had my PM for a month and I am feeling so much better, in fact sometimes I forget it's there. Take some time to rest and just know that you body is healing.

Congratulations on a successful surgery. Like everyone has said, give yourself time to heal. It's different for everybody. I had twitches in my chest and started to loose my voice for a while. I was also lightheaded for a while. After 4 months I feel so much better and am getting back to running and working alot in the yard. I had a lot of bruising also.
Keep talking and let us know how things progress.
Take care friend,
Rusty
