I was implanted with a St. Jude Pacemaker model 940923 on December 1, 2004. Six months ago I was told my battery had 5 years of life. Last week I was told my battery will last only one and half years. Is this normal? Shouldn't my battery be lasting longer? I am 100% dependent on my pacemaker. Thank you for any information you can give me.

I have been implanted with Pacemaker just two months back.
* Can I go for EECP treatment.
* can I take the Aurvedic Panchhakarma treatment in which the patient will have to take steam in a closed wooden box.
You know you're wired when...
Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.

It's possible

SInce you are 100 percent dependent, it is possible that the battery is wearing down. But it seems funny that it should lose so much time in 6 months. I would make sure that they don't have the voltage set too high. Also, if the leads are not making good contact, they may have set it higher, which is wearing down the battery. Check with the doctor and pacemaker tech.
