ice?

I would expect it to still be tender and swollen. Ice will help with the swelling. Did they mention alternating advil and tylenol? Sometimes that works better, but I found ice helped with the pain and swelling more than any meds. Don't be shy about going back if it's not improving in a day or two. It should start to improve quickly after the first week, or at least that's always been my experience.

Tracey is right i had my PM totally replaced a few weeks ago still in pain but slowly improving! but i have found Ice is my best freind.... i have two ice packs so while i am using one the other one is in the freezer. I was also given stronger pain medication by my Dr. Hope you feel better soon!

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didnt slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
I would go back to your doctors

or go to ER/A&E for an opinion if your pain is really difficult to tolerate Vandyike. Left shoulder puffiness and tenderness after one week maybe perfectly normal but if over the counter pain meds don't help, you may need something stronger or a short course of an anti inflammatory.
Hope things improve for you quickly. I recall I had a lot of discomfort for a couple of weeks, but no swelling or intense pain to keep me awake at night
