Dumb Question

So I haven't flown since I got my ICD. Do those of us with an implant get to cut into the front of the security line since we can't go through the metal detectors or do we have to wait in line like everyone else and then go around? Just curious because someone told me they seem to think we get to go to a separate area and bypass the security line entirely.

DUMB QUESTION...NOT!

I have flown several times since I rec'd my PM. I show my card and someone comes to get me and to pat me down. As another member stated; they ask if you want it done privately. I never do.

I also have had a Total Knee Replacement so I know I'm going to set off the alarms so that is why I just always show my PM card; then when the pat down begins I tell them about the knee. The above has been the case in most airports.

However, in Las Vegas, after showing my PM CardI was re-directed to the Handicapped Check In line where I was given the pat-down. It is always females who do my pat down as I'm female.

I have had no problems with air travel and plan to fly to Florida next week.

Keep on pacing,
Margaret

I've never cut...

... but I never declare I have a PM unless I'm singled out for the wand. There aren't any PM issues going through the metal detectors at airports if you walk through brickly and don't linger around them.

a funny story

you do have to be careful as once i flew to seattle and i told the young girl i had a pacemaker and she came at me with a wand. she was not educated obviously to do her job. i refused and an older employee told her no you pat her down which she did and it is nothing. no problem. this was only one incident but the rest were fine and i have been out of the country several times since getting the pacemaker. i just wait in line until it is my turn and then i tell them that i have a pacemaker. i have never had to show my card. so good luck and safe and happy travelling. jessie

I bypassed the line.

I went past the line to another person working the xray machine. I mentioned i had a pacemaker. They took me right in for a pat down ahead of the line. Bowlrbob
