When to life left elbow above shoulder?

What is the consensus of when you should be able to lift your left elbow above your shoulder again?

Thanks, Tim

Listen to your docs!

Most docs give a different range. I would think according to age and ability. I'm only 39 and it's been 8 weeks and I'm still not going too crazy with that arm. I raise it above my head but nothing like before. We even have a softball game coming up at work and I can't hit. I'm bummed because I love softball. Maybe next year! Just take it easy for now and listen to your body. All the best!

Well Tim ...

You will find many posts on this subject here (if you haven't found it yet the search button is the quite small magnifying glass icon on the top right).  Some very experienced forumites are pretty relaxed about this, since there is slack in the wires to allow for such movement.  the potential risk is in dislodging the wires from where they have been attached to the heart wall.

Factors to consider are also the vigour of the movement and the amount.  So forgetfully reaching for something from a high shelf is less of a worry than hitting a softbass as Arentas80 sets out!

I am 100% dependent on mine, so I was quite cautious and waited 6 weeks before lifting high etc.

...everything that needs to be said in his subject line.  Your doctors told you how long to wait.  Just do it.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
