Problems dealing with CardioMessenger Smart

I'm having a lot of problems dealing with my CardioMessenger Smart device. My doctor told me their equipment would monitor my heart activity regularly at 2 AM and would make any necessary adjustments to my pace maker. Unfortunately, most every night I wake up before the monitoring time and can't go back to sleep until sometime later. I'm having difficulty dealing with the monitor and it's causing me to loose sleep.

Ask if it has to do its thing every night. If you are stable, they should be able to change it to monthly or quarterly.

I don't like having mine in my face all the time, don't want a reminder every time I look at my nightstand. They said as long as it's within 10' of where I sleep, it can be anywhere. So I keep it wrapped in a towel, under the bed.

Some clarification

The remote box cannot change the settings of your pacemaker.  That would be a huge security problem.  Changes can only be made with the near-field probe (AKA "puck") in the device clinic. I know this doesn't change the anxiety caused by waiting for the box to do its thing (kinda like watching a clock before the alarm - on steroids).

Talk to your EP.  There has to be something they can do.

You know you're wired when...

You make store alarms beep.

Do feel free to contact the manufacturer of your device. I have found them to be quite helpful when I have had questions and concerns.
