vehicle motor interference

I just wanted to let you all know that we have found the culprit causing the sensation from my Medtronic PM. It is so simple, I should have thought of this first. It turns out that the sensation was caused by the seat belt crossing over my PM. The Medtonic PM is so much more sensitive that the ones I have before. Just the least little touch or tap causes a vibration of sorts. With the seat belt crossing over it, there was a constant interference the whole time I was driving. I am so glad the problem seems to be solved. I am going to try putting a towel or some sort of cushioning between the belt and my PM and see if that solves the problem.
Just thought I would pass this on for anyone else who may be experiencing or have experienced this same feeling.
Thanks for the info and feedback.

I've had trouble with bumpy roads

When I first started back to the gym after the implant, my pulse wasn't speeding up on the exercycle. I'd tap several times on the pacemaker and watch the rate jump on the readout from the handgrips.

But that was nothing like when I drove on a particularly rough strip of road near the beach. My heart raced within seconds, and took a couple of minutes to cool. My St. Jude rep adjusted the motion sensor within the pacemaker so it didn't trigger as easily. I'm sure the Medtronics have similar adjustments. Ask your doctor for help next time you're in.

Mine has sensitivity (how much or vigorous the motion has to be to trigger), how quickly it'll start speeding up your pulse, how fast your pulse can get based on the motions, and how quickly it tapers back to base rate when motion subsides or ends. Mine took a fair bit of tweaking to become most comfortable, but it still bugs me sometimes.

Anyway, all forms of motion can trigger the sensor, not just jogging or situps. As you discovered.

Great detective work!

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
