I had an ICD placed two weeks ago.  Is it normal for it to sometimes feel warm?

Feeling warm

I have an ICD and have not experienced warmth from it.  Recommend talking to your doctor when you do your follow up visit.

Feeling warm?

Does it feel warm to the touch (i.e. it's warm to your hand when you touch it)? Or, do you have a warm sensation where the PM is implanted?

If #1, it may be infected and should be looked at.  How does it look?  If #2, he warm sensation (not real) may just be part of the healing.

There is no way that the PM is self heating.  The battery wouldn't last a day if it was dissipating enough heat to feel.

Mine will sometimes get warm when they do the download.  They didn't believe me until I had them touch it right after.  They believed me then, of course since that time the next nurse doesn't believe again..  Whatchagonnado.

Mine does

Mine gets warm every once in awhile for like five minutes and then goes away. my guess is its syncing or uploading data. When I told my EP about it she didnt seem concerned at all. Do bring it up with your EP though especially when you are healing.

Had ICD put in on 5/17/23, had it checked a week later and everything looked fine. Today, 6/2/23, I noticed when I lay my hand over it, it feels warm to the touch. It looks the same as last week. No redness, drainage, swelling or temperature. Dr said keep eye on it and if any change call him. So yes I think the warm sensation is normal for some of us.
