Wtf

I got my pacemaker in Jan 2019. I'm not happy about the scar. That's not what bothers me though, it's actually kinda funny cause people aren't used to seeing someone so young with a pacemaker, so they ask " OMG did you get stabbed?" It's the little shocks I keep getting every now and then. Is that normal?

Little shocks are not normal, no. Ask your doctor to check it out.

Don't judge the scar yet! It's far too early to tell how it's going to end up. Mine flatten out and blend in but it takes a year or so. Keep it moisturized and out of the sun until then. Or make up a good story about how you got stabbed ;o)

Badges of honor

I wear my two scars as badges of honor----kinda like the rite of passage into a better and longer quality of life.

Depends on what you mean by shocks

While my scar was healing, it felt like little shocks or zaps literally in my skin right around the scar. It was the nerves growing back together and nothing more. It stopped for good @4-5 months out for me.

If you are feeling shocks in your heart, not just your skin at the incision site, CALL YOUR DOC. Actually, it's probably a good idea to call them either way.

Scar

After I got my 2nd PM I was invited to travel to Puerto Rico with a group of my daughter's friends. I needed a rest so I said yes!  That meant that I would be enjoying some water activities.  I was on a chartered party boat and was being fitted for a lifevest so I could go into the water. Everyone had to wear one, no big deal. The Captain of the boat was fitting my lifevest on me and he stopped, and stared straight at my scars! I was so scared.  He tilted his head back and a laugh from deep within his soul came out as he roared out "aghhhh, I see where the PIRATE STABBED YOU!" I began to laugh and laugh. It was the best time ever! Now when anyone says anything about my scars I simply tell them that it's where the Pirate stabbed me and smile.  I had a great vacation and that Captain made sure I had a very good time. He was awfully cute! hahahhaa

p.s. The shocks, you should get that checked out.

Shocks

i get the same looks and my scar is sooo jagged and looks botched, but I have so many huge scars all over my body that it doesn’t bother me. My sister and I say I was stabbed as the scars on my back I say a shark attack. I’ve had mine only a month and two days ago I called my doc because I was getting little zings and it would feel hot inside, not the skin outside. When I called they said it was normal as it could be nerves and only worry if the skin on the outside was hot to the touch.
