Can you have a convergent procedure if you have already had:
1. Cryo-ablation
2. AV-ablation
3. Pacemaker implant (2 lead)
Still have severe A-fib with heavy pounding of heart and breathlessness. Sometimes leaving me gasping for air.

Convergent Procedure

Thanks AgentX86. My EP is the one who refered me to the Cardiac Surgeon for this procedure. Was wondering if there was anyone who has a pacemaker and has undergone this surgery and has had any adverse effects. I have read about folks that have has this done but none seem to have a pacer.
I've had it all.... from Metropolol to Stalol to Tikosyn to cryo-ablation to Amiodarone to AV ablation/pacemaker implant and now to convergent procedure. Perhaps the next step is yoga (so I'm limber enough to bend over and kiss my butt goodby).
Pacemker?

How are you pacing? DDI? AAI? VVI? Again, I don't understand how, with an AV ablatoin that you can still be having palpatations. That's the whole point of an AV ablation - to alleviate the symptoms caused by AF/AFL. If you're pacing AAI, the pacemaker is just replacing the AV node and the ablation did nothing. The arrhithmia just telegraphs through the pacemaker as it would the AV node. I'd like to understand more, here. Thanks!

Thanks for the followup AgentX86. I believe I'm set up in DDI. The last time I was in for a device check, they set the pacer to pulse both A & V. They also changed my base to 70 bpm.
DDI

Well, that's why you're still feeling your Afib. I'm not sure what the point of the AV ablation was if they're going to pace you DDI (or AAI). If you have an answer to that question, please let me know. Im really curious about this.
I have two V leads, no atrial leads and, of course, paced VVI. I don't feel the flutter (much), at least as an arrhythmia. It certainly doesn't telegraph to the ventricles so my rate is normal (regular, if rate not so responsive).
You know you're wired when...
Youre officially battery-operated.

That sounds like pretty drastic surgery - more so than even a mini-maze though probably not as involved as a full Maze (cracking the chest). The person to ask is your EP, though.
I'd have to question why you still have palpatations after the AV ablation? Makes no sense to me. What sort of pacemaker (which two leads) do you have?
