Pacemaker Readings?

do pacemakers record every heart beat throughout the day? I fainted last week and I'm waiting to get into the clinic. I'd like to know what my heart rate did when it happened.

I think it will depend on what type/model of pacemaker you have.

The one I have only records a full history of my heart rate from the last 24 hours, but the last time I was in getting the settings changed the PM had logged that two days earlier my heart rate had gone up to 180bpm.

So, the one I have seems to generally record “incidents” for a longer period of time, but doesn’t provide much detail around it unless it happened within the last 24 hours.

What your pacemaker will record depends entirely on what it is programmed to record. Only your doctor or pacemaker tech is likely to have the answer to your question.

That said, it is a good idea to send a report via your home monitor as soon as possible after an incident. Call your doctor's office and tell them as near as possible what time the incident happened.

thanks!

I wish I could have the home monitoring thing! As for as I know it was not allowed in Canada. I will be bring this up tomorrow at the doctors. Another strange thing in Canada is we can't get into the pacemaker clinics unless seeing our family doctors first and asking for a request. Long Process!

thanks everyone for your comments!

Canadian too

I’m also in Canada and wondering if there’s an easier way to get PM monitoring information. For now I have to get my Cardiologist office (which Is generally a voicemail) to make an appointment at the heart clinic at the hospital for me to go in. And this isn’t a quick process. Do you (Smitty2.0) know if you can pay even to be able to do home monitoring in Canada or is it simply not allowed in Canada?

I feel the same pain! it takes too long to get any where in our system... I have heard HM has just recently been approved in CANADA. I should have more information soon. I'll re post once I do. I have heard they asking for test patients?? I'll keep u posted. I hope to be at the PM Clinic in the next few days.
