Tachycardia

While cruising the Medtronic and other manufacturer's sites, I noticed this:  Under "Causes of Heart Failure."  No mention is made of "TIC." - Tachycardia Induced Cardiomyopathy.  A heart rate of even 105 for a period of time (months, usually) can lead to heart failure.  If you have a cardiologist or EP who ignores this symptom, DUMP HIM!!!

My cardiologist just gives more meds....

I have heart failure and ventricular tachycardia, which lead to ICD placement.  My tachycardia is pretty obvious but all they do is prescribe more of the same meds that don't work (beta blockers) for me.  Doubling up the doses until I become bedridden and stop taking them.  But there are very few options.  Next for me, probably ablation with CRT device.  Of course with all the scar tissue I have even that may not help and unfortunately is irreversable so we're holding off for now.

The E.P. who ignored my  125 tachycardia would always ask, "Well, How do you feel?"  I'da felt better with an 85 pulse.  Subsequent talented heart failure specialist I saw at a different clinic (who is now retired - DANG) had this to say: "You know that TCAI EP who ignored your tachy condition created the cardiomyopathy you now enjoy!!"

You know you're wired when...

You always have something close to your heart.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
