ICD or CRT?

If you have a basic ICD it should not cause this issue unless it's during one of the self tests that it runs. Keep a log of when it happens and see if you can pin down a regular time, keep in mind some tests are done once a day, some several times, and some hourly. Some settings these can be turned off or changed. If you have a CRT device then it may occur more regularly and they have fewer options of turning off. The other thing may be a phrenic nerve issue. Create your log then call your EP and discuss with them to try and resolve. Good luck!
me too

I had an ICD implant yesterday and I have been having this symptom too. The description of 'thumping' or 'hiccups' are the same term that I applied but I agree that spasms is a more accurate term. The location T.HUMENIK described also matches my symptoms. I assume it is the diaphragm but I am having no difficulty breathing. It is not painful but it seems to be increasing in frequency. At the moment it is happening about 20 times a minute. I've sent an email to my doctor and may call the advice line if it increases in severity.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
hiccups

Whilst still in hospital directly after the implantation, I had tumping below my ribcage. They asked whether I had hiccups? In my case and in case of the hiccups, it is solvable by changing the parameter strength of the lead(s). Go to you pm consultation or doctor: tell them what the problem is. They can change the parameters of your pm easily. I hope this is what your problem is.
