I had a pm implanted on August 31 and recently was told my upper chamber was beating at a 4:1 ratio. My pacemaker was adjusted, and I am taking Sotalol and Diltiazem. I immediately felt better, but still suspicious. Recently my doctor has mentioned amiodarone. From past research I’m somewhat reluctant to try this medication.
Any thoughts regarding amiodarone? Benefits? Side effects? I have a follow up appointment on 11/28.
Thanks in advance.

Was given amiodarone in april after a VT storm, was told safe in short term. In aug they discovered amiodarone lung and have been on steroids ever since. Luckily they csught it before it caused irreversible damage so not a fan of the drug.
Thanks

Side effects.....

Just wanted to say, read up on the side effects before agreeing to take amniodarone.
I was offered it years ago, declined and got a second opinion.
All drugs have side effects but amniodarone has some pretty severe/irreversible side effects.
Not a fan.

My cardiologist and his associates will not prescribe this medication. Very harmful. If someone tries to put you on it drop them and get someone else.

Fortunately, I am able to report my heart is now and has been in rhythm due to the readjustment of my pm last month. A recent interrogation proved the point so it was not necessary to discussed any med change or future ablation.
I appreciate all of you for taking the time to respond. Glad to know I wasn't off base concerning amiodarone.

Life does not stop with a pacemaker, even though it caught me off guard.
