...We got in our tub fdor 20-30 min every night.Just DON'T:

1)  Get too hot (Start sweating)

2)  Drown.

3)  If there is A  Defib host present & it starts firing, DON'T grab them by the arm to help.  You could get fried by their device firing at the wrong time in your heart's cycle causing an "R over T" event & potential SCA.  Have a swimming pool "Hook" available to fish them out of the water.  There waas a documented case of that happening in Ft Myers, FLA several yrs ago.  I asked my Cardio's head nurse if that could happen.  Her answer was an emphatic YES!  In fact she said it had happened to het in clinic whan an ICD host had a firing.  She grabed his arm to keep him on the table & got a mule kick from jhis device.  Their sin was dry. so the results weren't disastrous for her.

Happy tubbing!

My doctor told me its ok but only to the waist and no more that 10min at a time and to never have the pacemaker submerged in the hot water

They never mentioned anything about it, guess I should ask.

Guess that means no baths either?

I am sure it must depend on what medication you are on, and why you have a pacemaker, but just to say I use a hot tub for over an hour each time without anything more than the usual wrinked skin. It must not be too hot of course - I think 36C (98F) is what my friend's tub is set on.  It doesn't seem to be vigorous enough to trigger my pacemaker's rate response.  I also have a mechanical heart valve and am an insulin dependent diabetic, and no adverse effects on either but if a diabetic has reduced nerve sensation it is particularly important to check the water temperature first.

So if you are going to try it, my suggestion would be to check the temperature, do it for a short period first time and then get out and see how you feel, and make sure someone is with you.
