I read the opposite...

I actually read the opposite, that it could actually cause cardiomyopathy.  I'm not into it, but, if it helped I'd be a daily user!

Cannabis

There  serious adverse cardiovascular events associated with cannabis, including myocardial infarction, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmias, stroke, and cardiac arrest.

I have seen loads of psychosis associated with cannabis. Much anxiety.

Have seen lots of accidents ( from drownings to electrocutions)

Bad withdrawals - yes!

Destroyed careers- many!

Taking cannabis should carry a health warning, like your pills.

Best to keep to the pills, at least you know what you are getting!

Happy times.

Still risk of MI, cardiac arrest, angina though.

Another point of view

I have a pacemaker put in in June 2018 for a 3rd degree heart block. I've discussed my regular use of cannabis with my cardiologist, and he has no qualms. I've used cannabis recreationally for 40 years with few negative experiences. I use CBD oil to relieve pain; it can work well for some types of pain (I just had a double hernia repaired, and the CBD seems to dampen or eliminate what I suspect is nerve pain). This is anecdotal evidence. The problem is that there has been little or no serious research into the effects of cannabis because the drug was illegal, and classified as too dangerous to mess with, therefore research was essentially prohibited.

I live in Canada, and we just legalized it. Watch over the next few years when proper studies are done; I'm willing to bet that a lot more good is found in it than bad. It's not a panacea, but it's a remarkable plant.

I stopped drinking alcohol 3 years ago. I think it's a lot worse than cannabis.
