Holy pain

I am a 52 year old woman and just recently got an icd implant. I cant believe how much pain I am in. Is this normal? I feel like every chest muscle is torn. Cant lift my arm at all and my back hurts. Sleeping upright is the only way to be semi confortable. Someone please tell me how long this lasts.  Bonzai

Days or weeks or months.....

I had my ICD put in in Jan 2017, the incision was fine, the area around it all OK, but, they banged the heck out of my shoulder.  That March I had my GP xray it to make sure there wasn't a bruised bone or something but nothing showed up.  Around mid April it started getting back to normal.  Now, no pain, well, except when it goes off!  Everyone is different.  Ice packs may help if its really recent, warm compress after that may help.  Aspirin and/or what ever else the doctor gives you for pain, and time.  If the wound starts oosing or turning red then you need to get to you doctor right away.   Pillows to prop you into a comfortable position, that's really about it.  Good luck!

Did they put yours under the pectoral muscle or just under the skin?  ...or perhaps under the breast?  There are all sorts of possibilities and everyone reacts differently.

I had virtually no pain at all, unless I touched the area.  I slept in a recliner for two months so I wouldn't roll over on it at night.  I'm normally a stomach sleeper, so I had to make sure that didn't happen.

I had very little initial pain but after nine months, it's still sensitive to the touch, particularly on the side of the scar opposite the PM pocket.

I just had my PM put in 10/2 had to go back in 10/8 because one of my leads came loose. The pain I have in my arm and shoulder is also horrible. I cant move my left arm in any direction. The pain goes all the way across my chest and up into my neck. I am in a sling as well because they dont wsnt me to move it, my opening is now larger than original opening, so I'm in serious pain. And cant even bend down, getting up and down our if a chair is difficult. I'm so ready for the pain to ease up!

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
