Anther take on pain

I HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME:  tHE PAIN WAS JUST LIKE ELECTRIC SHOCKS, BUT VERY SMALL, & RIGHT AROUND THE BODY OF MY PM.  Also, they were in a rhythm pattern EXACTLY matching my heart beat.  Getting to the end of the story was a long, drawn out process, involving my Cardio, his head nurse, his associate EP and his nurse and an ancient electrical engineer (me).  They did multiple strips of ECG's probably 10 feet or so; multiple downloads tht showed nothing concrete that they recognized as a common symptom of anything.  They even had my chest Xrayed twice, looking for a broken lead.  Nothing.

Each lead is a TWO conductor device - a center conductor sheathed in a braided outerconductor.  The denter conductore is the pacer signal going out from the pacer& the braided sheath is the rerturn lead.  Not unlike a coaxial cable goig to your TV set.I suggested that one of my leads had partially broken - the return conductor, causing the system to use my body as the return lead.  When the return of the signal reached the pacer body and transferred from my body to the case and trhence back to the electronic guts of the device, I was sensing the current "Jump" from my body fluids to the case.  "Nah!" all the experts said - till one day I was at my allergist's office & they did a chest Xray to see if I had ay congestion in my lungs.  the Xray tech  went running in to the allergist waving a sheet of film yelling excitedly "This guy's got a broken PM lead !"   (Not really, but that makes for a better story.)  Sho nuff I did - there it was abut a 2 inch gap in the lead somewhere near the point where the lead entered the vein.

It took 4 yrs for the lead to break.  My guess is the following - the outer polumer insulating sheath developed a leak, allowing the outer braided conductor t become exposed to blood.  Body fluids are very corrosive & the braid evenually got eate through by the blood, leading to my body taking over the return current function.

Does your shocks match any of this tale?
